Shelby Lorenzi is a dedicated advocate with wisdom beyond her years. Ms. Lorenzi has dedicated her career, beginning as a paralegal and later a lawyer, to the family law field. Ms. Lorenzi’s passion for family law began while she was working for Legal Assistance at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Although her primary focus is Family Law, she also has experience with Personal Injury and Estate Planning matters. To foster community within the new generation of lawyers practicing in San Diego, Ms. Lorenzi founded the USD Family Law Society. Her goal was to connect law students with the community they serve, create mentorship opportunities through pairing students with experienced attorneys, and facilitate community with other students interested in family law.

Because of her diverse experience and dedication to Family Law, Ms. Lorenzi was awarded the Bonnie Nelson Reading Memorial Scholarship by the San Diego Family Law Bar Association. This award is only provided to one law student per year who demonstrated having made significant contributions to family law and the community.

When she is not at the office, Ms. Lorenzi makes the most of San Diego’s beautiful landscapes and climate by hiking, visiting the beach with her husband and corgi, and riding her horses.

EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND

Prior to starting at Clemens | Warren, Ms. Lorenzi worked for Linda Papst de Leon, a family law specialist with over 30 years of experience. While working at Ms. de Leon’s office, Ms. Lorenzi worked on a variety of family law matters, including high conflict custody/visitation, high asset property division, and minor’s counsel cases. She has experience both in court and in mediation.

While attending USD, Ms. Lorenzi gained valuable experience working for the USD Women’s Legal Clinic, appearing in court and representing clients with limited means. Over the course of four terms, she handled a diverse caseload within family law, including custody, domestic violence, move away, and property issues. Because of her dedication, she received the Pro Bono service Recognition with High Distinction for committing over 250 hours to the community.

Ms. Lorenzi simultaneously worked at the Family Law Facilitators Office, where she worked directly with self-represented litigants. There, she assisted with dissolution, custody, parentage, and annulment cases.
